‘Kern’ is an independent publication showcasing the best of contemporary typography and typographers. 

 

This was my final project for my first year of my HND Graphic Design course at City of Glasgow College in May 2021.

 

I wanted my cover designs for ‘Kern’ to really have a Graphic Design feel to them considering it is to be included in ‘Eye’ which is printed magazine about Graphic Design and visual culture.  I decided to have the design on the front cover be connected to the back cover so that it spread across both pages. A simple design yet makes a statement about what kind of publication it is.

I chose purple and grey as my Pantone colours and white as my Stock colour, which by using these colours for my Stock and Pantones they help each other to stand out together despite the colours being quite dull.
